Deadmau5 took to twitter mid-set at Mansions New Years Day performance utterly pissed at the crowd that had gathered to see him. Deadmau5 is no stranger to Twitter rants or hating the “bros” that have taken over the EDM Scene but when you sell $100 tickets to a New Years Day performance in South Beach you don’t necessary attract your die hard fans. We talked to a few different people that were there at it sounds like some people thought the show was cut short due to the “doushy” crowd and others say it was a full 90 minute set. Either way, I wouldn’t hold my breath for another Deadmau5 show at Mansion anytime soon.
In a chat that took place at live.deadmau5.com he said
“I fucking reamed out my agent for making me deal with that. Putting fans in the back and trust fund kids up front is fucking stupid as fuck…. I’d rather rent a venue / parking lot / beachfront and fuckin’ do it right.”
It seem apparent that Deadmau5 hates what the EDM scene has become. Sure – maybe the scene is fucked and everyone just wants to hear a drop they heard on the radio, and to hear the same cliche songs played over and over. Keep in mind he isn’t exactly running the other way. In fact, Deadmau5 is getting deeper into the scene he has helped form with a new music subscription service – further capitalizing on the exact people he seems to have less tolerance for each day.
South Florida is really doing a great job at pissing off the talent that comes to town. See also: Crizzly’s Startling Tweets After Club Cinema Concert | Porter Robinson Calls Club Cinema: “The Shitshow from Hell”
